ICE HOLDS / DETAINERS
What is an ICE Hold / Detainer?
If you have a loved one in jail and are attempting to post their bond or inquire about how to get them released, the jail may inform you that your loved one has an "ice hold." If you are informed that there is an ice hold, contact one of our immigration attorneys immediately at (817) 482-6570.
An ice hold is a request made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement to transfer the detained person into their custody instead of being released.
But, don't worry! An ice hold does not necessarily mean your loved one will be deported. However, it is important to contact our office as soon as possible to discuss your options. The sooner you contact an attorney, the more options you or your loved one may have.
This is not to be confused with a jail bond. The primary differences between the two are that you may not be eligible for an immigration bond and they are typically are expensive. Although your loved one may apply for one themselves, they are not guaranteed to qualify. Our attorneys will fight for you or your loved one's release from ICE at the immigration bond hearing and will fight to keep the bond amount as low as possible.
Our office understands that these situations are often scary, time sensitive and may also be very expensive. We will work with every client to develop a reasonable payment plan so that you can get the representation and counsel you need. Call our office today at (817) 482-6570 to a free consultation.
